Welcome to Northwestern Elementary School! We take pride in being an AdvancED accredited K-6 elementary school. Our school is actively engaged in the business of learning, with 638 wonderful students and nearly 70 terrific staff members! Our teachers utilize a variety of instructional tools and techniques to ensure that every child achieves at a high level, growing significantly each year.
As an Apple 1:1 school, every teacher and student has an iPad to use at school and home, allowing unique opportunities for enrichment, research, and practice. All Northwestern buildings have Wi-Fi connectivity, and classrooms are equipped with wireless LCD projectors to help teachers share images and video with students during instruction.
In modern, safe, climate-controlled classrooms, NES provides art, music, and physical education instruction in addition to core subject classes that meet and exceed state standards. Our facilities, coupled with a great staff and marvelous students who come to school ready to learn, are the reasons why Northwestern Elementary School is recognized locally as THE PLACE TO BE!
Call, email, or visit the school to arrange a tour to see why so many area students choose Northwestern over other schools.

Important Immunization Information
During the 2009 legislative session, Indiana Code 20-34-4-2 was revised, requiring the Indiana State Department of Health to "adopt rules under IC 4-22-2 to require school age children to receive additional immunizations against the following: Meningitis, Varicella, and Pertussis (whooping cough).
Due to this new legislation, we will see the following changes to the immunization requirements for the 2010-2011 school year:
- All 6th-12th grade students will be required to have 2 doses of Varicella vaccine or a history of chicken pox disease.
- All 6th-12th grade students will be required to have 1 dose of tetanus-diptheria-acellular pertussis vaccine (Tdap) given on or after their 10th birthday.
- All 6th-12th grade students will be required to have 1 dose of meningococcal vaccine (MCV4).
If your child has already received these immunizations, please send a copy of their updated immunization information to the school so that I can update their health record. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding the new immunization requirements.
